As to dissent, Al Gore has regularly demanded that any dissenting opinion be silenced and denied access to the public. And in November, one UN official ominously called the questioning of global warming "criminally irresponsible." And on a related note, I was absolutely floored to find, when I was analyzing the Lisbon Treaty, that the EU has written the global warming into its Constitution, thus establishing beyond a matter of law or debate that it is to be treated as true. Half of these folks really are cultists. I think the other half are die-hard socialists who see this as a very cynical method by with to gather power. Great post with good analysis.
